We made sushi rice last Saturday and Sunday for the sports day. We have planned this event for so long. Our aim is to make as many meals as we can and sushi rice was just one of the dishes on the menu. It was the difficult part of making the food. We needed to make 66 cups of rice and we needed to make it fresh. We spent 9 hours only for cooking the rice.
Sushi rice has many steps and many things that need to be followed. For example, the vinaigrette that needs to be mixed in the rice needs to be done at a high temperature and not a cold vinaigrette. We started to make it at 10 o’clock at night because we needed to make other side dishes first so we started it that late.
When we prepared all of the rice it was already 1 o’clock and we still needed to wait for the rice to be cooked. We needed to make the vinaigrette for 66 cups of rice. After we completed making all the vinaigrette, we had to mix it into the rice until it had the great vinaigrette ‘’smell’’. Lastly, we mixed in the seaweed.
We made sushi rice until 5 o’clock in the morning to finish everything we needed to make.
