Recently, our school and sixth grade students from Harmony Elementary School department participated in this study tour. We went on a five-day independent study tour with our teachers. On the fifth day of the trip was the long-awaited river tracing activity. Tracing river refers to following a river upstream along the valley. It requires technical climbing on some complex terrain, so it is not an easy task and is full of challenges.
We climbed the sides of mountains and waded in rivers, climbed over large and small rocks, and even jumped into the water from the high rock. I found these activities very interesting. There were many exciting things to do along the way, such as diving into pools. However, the water was too cold, which was a different kind of challenge.
River tracing is a sport that often requires teamwork. It cannot be completed by one person. For example, some places that cannot be climbed will require the help of people above, or the people below will need to help push the people up. I think the most interesting and exciting thing about this river trip was diving. In fact, I didn’t plan to jump at first because it felt a bit scary to stand on the rocks and look down. But after many contemplations, I felt would be a pity not to jump. So I jumped.
It actually felt quite good to jump. Very cold but it defeated my fear. After diving once, you will want to dive a second time!
All in all, this was an event worth coming back for. I hope to experience it again next time!
