ABOUT HARMONY MONTESSORI SCHOOL
Class' Welcome,
We are Harmony S1 Middle School Class. Some of us are new to the Montessori Learning Environment whereas others have gone through the Harmony Montessori Educational Institution Elementary School program and continued on with Harmony.
We are not a big school but we are BIG on learning.
Our classes are not structured in the way a typical middle school is scheduled. Instead, we learn in a variety of ways including hands-on experience on our small farm where we grow food for ourselves using different agricultural approaches. We also have International Path classes in English for earth science, life science, physical science, geography, literature, language and history.
Our teachers come from diverse backgrounds and cultures offering us many different perspectives on our world. As we build our class, and school, we hope to grow and share how we go about learning for the future, developing life-long skills and strategies using the Montessori way of learning.

Our Philosophy
We believe that parent participation is key to children learning successfully. When students see parents, teachers and other members of the community involved in learning, it sets them up to become life-long learners.
This, coupled with a strong outdoor based learning program, gives students activities that take learning from the classroom to the environment outside and gives them real world experiences.
We strongly believe in saying, "healthy body, healthy mind".
Our History
HMEI was started by a small group of parents in 2012. These parents believed there was a better way to get students to learn and started by getting certified as Montessori teachers. Then they started implementing this pedagogy with a very small group of students.
Through, care, the love of education and a more holistic approach to children, Harmony grew and expanded from a single small class to over 5 different classes and almost 100 students today. We now offer classes from Grade 1-Grade 9. We offer both English and Chinese course options to all our students.
